Sumatra is the nation’s top coffee producing island. Aceh is in the northern Gayo region, and is largely (92+%) farmed by small land owners that are using traditional and natural methods of farming. Coffee from this region, is unique with its earthy flavors, and thick, creamy texture. A great choice for those who enjoy an uncomplicated coffee.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eProducer\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eJagong Mill  \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA family run mill that has full control over the processing and milling from start to final export. This allows the farm to avoid many issues such as difficult supply lines and costly time issues that can lower a coffees quality. Revenue from the mill is used to enhance more sustainable, social and environmental farming methods, such as paying higher wages, and investing in irrigation systems, water reservoirs and terrace upkeep. These beans have also been sourced from surrounding family-owned farms in the same region as well. This producer group is titled Ihtiyeri Keti Ara (IKA), which loosely means “working for sustenance” in the Gayo dialect. Jagong Mill is owned and produced by Mr. Irham Junus, son Andi and daughter Ina. The Junus family has a focus on meticulous ripe cherry selections, which is uncommon. This is just one of five large estates in this region dating back to the “Dutch Colonial Era”. Surrounded by forests and volcanos the estate is the perfect area for growing Arabica coffee. Jampit is a large government run estate which was established in the 18\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e century by two Dutch men, Peter Fellinger and Markus Hartinger. It wasn’t until 1999 that the estate took on its current name. Estate Jampit has housing, a well-run school and sporting facilities to be enjoyed. When the drying patios are not filled with beans, they are converted into netball and football pitches.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe farm is Utz certified ensuring that they stick to the highest standards of all agricultural and social practices. Once the beans have been hand picked, they are meticulously inspected to remove any broken or unwanted defects. This is what delivers such an incredibly consistent coffee.
